This course reviews the broad field of materials chemistry, starting form synthetic problems, methods of characterization and applications of materials. The course will deal with chemical studies in modern materials emphasizing physical chemistry fundamentals, the interface between molecules and materials, the understanding of the interplay between molecular-level structure and functions and the chemical engineering of various materials. Some features of new emerging materials like fullerenes, nanotubes and nanoporous solids will also be discussed. Brief and combined intermediate quizzes will be provided to the students, to ensure their better and deeper understanding of the subject.
