This is a general introductory course on the subject that is enormously wide in its scope, literary works on film. This course will provide you with basic conceptual frameworks for understanding how literary works transform into films. The films you will watch in class represent a wide variety of styles and genres. They will range from faithful translations of original works to what one would call “inventive” adaptations. Furthermore, this course will explore the connections between literature, film, society, and culture.
