Energy is the main keyword of this course. Types of energy, energy balance equations for closed and open systems being operated at steady states are explained in the beginning parts. Calculations of enthalpy which is the most imortant energy term in the energy blancce equations for open systems at steady states are practiced for the changes in process conditions including temperature, pressure, phases. Finally, energy balance equations are applied and solved for a wide range of nonreactive and reactive processes in order to estimate the energy requirement of the processes in the form of heat and work. Some specific processes to mention for energy balane calculations are adiabatic furnaces, hydrogen fuel cells, acid-bace neutralizers, etc.
